Erika and Rob spent a week on Oahu and a week on Kuwaii over Christmas. The floating observation deck shown here looks down over the top of the smokestack of the U.S.S. Arizona, the only part above water. You can see oil and air bubbles rising from its wreckage still. |

Cancun, Mexico 2004 Rob, Erika and Erika's family spent 2 weeks in Cancun and Cozumel during Christmas time. In addition to great relaxation at the pool and beach, we found time to explore the Mayan archeological sites of Chitzen Itsa and Tulum. Those Mayans sure like their human sacrifices! |

Cancun, Mexico 2004 Rob and Erika's brother, Alec, got SCUBA certified in Cozumel. It took three full days of classes, videos and skill practices in 20-ft water, followed by a 40-ft boat dive off of Chan Kaanab National Park, part of the 2nd largest reef in the world. |

Machu Picchu, Peru, 2006 During our exploration of Machu Picchu, we decided to climb nearby Huayna Picchu for an hour of agony as we ascended as quickly as our lungs could process the thin air. Then, with the most amazing view in front of us, a beautiful mountain caracaras (type of falcon) in juvenile plumage landed a few feet away and raised one of its talons as if to mock our difficulty climbing. |
